More reports from Oko Baale ACDC Meeting
In the bid to strengthen Security in Oko Baale and Environs, September 12th has been noted as deadline for Iron Pickers otherwise known as “Mola” to wear Identity Jackets with the phone Number of their Manager for proper identification and control.
Addressing Community Leaders and Chairmen of CDAs and government officials at the monthly ACDC General Meeting hosted by Oko Baale CDA on Thursday 8th September, 2022, Superintendent of Police, Kareem Alao, who is also Admin Officer @ Onipaanu Police Station, Ota, who stood-in for the DPO disclosed that each area of Oko Baale would have specific colours of ID Jackets for “Molas” covering each area. This, according to the Police Officer, is one of the measures put in place to combat crime in Oko Baale and Environs.
Superintendent Alao noted that the scarcity of policemen in Ogun State has necessitated the establishment of men of the SO SAFE CORPS to compliment police efforts. He told the meeting of the need to embrace Community Policing, pointing out that all those okada riders driven away from Lagos have all migrated to Ota and the quickest option open to them is to go into burglary. He appealed to members to do everything possible to accommodate SO SAFE CORPS by giving them abandoned buildings to use as Security Posts.
Also speaking at the event, the Area Commander of SO SAFE CORPS, Ado Odo Ota Local Government, CSC Wasiu Dada admonished landlords not to belabour security men. He noted that one security man is not enough to watch over a whole street, particularly a relatively long street. Moreover, he lamented the poor salary offered security men, pointing out that N30,000 is the minimum wage acceptable to men of the SO SAFE CORPS. According to him, N30,000 per month translates to just N1,000 per day.
In his own contribution, the Councilor representing Ota Ward II in Ado Odo Ota Local Government, Hon. Talabi disclosed that the APC Senatorial candidate, representing Ogun West in the next Senate, Senator Olamilekan Solomon aka Yayi is empowering 6,000 youths in Ogun West and Ota is a vantage catchment area for youths that want to benefit from the project.
Councilor Talabi also seized the opportunity to warn those who indulge in disposing their garbage indiscriminately to desist from such acts. He also extended the same warning to those who engage in Bush Burning and Open Defecation.
