“You can call your Political Representatives to order with your votes” says Chief Aliu, Ajumoni ACDC chairman

The chairman of Ajumoni ACDC, Chief Kolapo Aliu has charged members of Ajumoni ACDC in Ota to call their political representatives to order with their votes by challenging vote-seeking politicians to wake up to their responsibilities by making dividends of democracy available to the masses.

Chief Aliu, who was responding to the Welcome Address of Alhaji Alao, chairman of Surulere Okoosi CDA that hosted the Monthly ACDC General meeting, said further that the present electioneering period in the country and in the states is a good opportunity for CDAs to demand dividends of democracy like Transformers, good motor able roads an concrete electric poles and cables from politicians.
The ACDC chairman enjoined members to ensure that they register in Polling Booths closest to them so that these Polling Units would not be removed from their areas.

On the forthcoming CDA elections, Chief Aliu warned that any CDA that do not clear it’s outstanding debts would not be allowed to conduct election.
He enjoined outgoing chairmen to properly handover property and materials in their possession to incoming chairmen. The new chairmen must give ACDC chairman a proper documentation of the names of new incoming ExCo.

Chief Aliu seized the opportunity to warn members against the indiscriminate dumping of refuse in drainages and appealed to all landlords to cooperate in fighting erosion in their communities by allowing gutters to be constructed in front of their houses to channel floods of rainfall. He advised members who have the need for optical care to contact a community NGO, Eye Foundation.

Chief Aliu also seized the opportunity of the General Meeting to showcase a new CDA named Good Shepherd CDA, headed by Surveyor Adedokun.

On Security, Chief Aliu warned that he would not condone members who harbor robbers, burglars, rapists and drug addicts in the communities. He also warned area boys who forcefully extort money from project contractors in the Community, pointing out that ACDC would not bail them if they are arrested and jailed by the law.

The ACDC chairman enjoined youths in the Community to be vigilant and observant of any youth that engages in criminal activity in their area and report such youth promptly to the appropriate authorities.
On Community Rates, otherwise known as Tenement Rates, the ACDC chair enjoined all members to pay up.

On Covid-19 Injection, he encouraged all members to submit themselves to be vaccinated, assuring them that the vaccine is not toxic as it is proclaimed. He admonished Women Leaders to rise up for service.

Also at the meeting, the Patron and former chairman of Ajumoni ACDC, Alhaji WAO Adeyinka admonished the new CDA showcased at the meeting, Good Shepherd CDA to be humble and cooperative with their mother CDA, Ifelodun Akaso, and reminded members that Community work is a life-long vocation, urging them to be steadfast and committed.

The State Officer at the meeting, Mrs Haruna, thanked all members for their contribution, stressing the need for love in the Communities. She admonished members to embrace each other during the elections for the progress of the Communities and prayed for the progress and survival of the newly birthed Communities.

On her own part, the Local Government Officer at the meeting, Mrs Adeosun, announced that outgoing chairmen must endeavor to get get the CDA certificate ready for onward transfer to the incoming CDA chairman.

In a brief Question & Answer Session, a member had asked whether residents of Joju Street can construct road bumps on the newly constructed road to check over-speeding mororists.
Chief Aliu advised the CDA concerned to see the engineer that did the road who would in turn seek the permission and approval of the government before that could be done.

A fish farmer, Mr Segun Owodunni was at the meeting to encourage members to embrace fish farming which is not capital intensive, but highly rewarding.
