Ogun State govt to vaccinate pilgrims set for Hajj
Ogun State Government through the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board (OGSMPWB) has commenced Vaccination exercise for intending pilgrims in readiness for 2021 Hajj.
The 2-day event which commenced this weekend at the Board’s Secretariat Complex, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta was designed to make covid-19 vaccination available and prevent delays that may later arise with late vaccination.
The Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Salau Dauda in his opening remarks stated that, the vaccination against covid-19 is a prerequisite for the holy pilgrimage this year in accordance with the directive of National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
Salau added that the State government has done its own part and it is incumbent on the intending pilgrims to follow suit by making themselves available for the AstraZeneca vaccine.
A release by the Executive Secretary of the State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Babatunde Salau, stated that the vaccination is scheduled for Saturday, April 10 and Sunday 11, 2021 from 9.00am, saying it is compulsory for all intending pilgrims.
The release urged intending pilgrims to visit the Board’s Secretariat Complex, Block B, Oke- Mosan, Abeokuta, with their payment receipts for the purpose of identification and clearance for the vaccine.
It however added that those who had been vaccinated at their Local Government Areas, do not need to repeat the first dose, but should bring their vaccination card for necessary documentation, urging them to obey COVID-19 safety protocols by using their face-masks.
