The chairman of Aseyori ACDC, Lion Adebisi Akanbi has admonished members of the community to go and register and collect their Voters’ cards to be eligible to vote in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
Lion Akanbi was addressing a gathering of CDA chairmen and Executives of CDAs in Aseyori Area CDC last Thursday 10th February, in Alasia area of Ota.
He strongly advised his listeners to take voting for reliable candidates seriously as that is the only opportunity they have to change or vote-in candidates who would do the wishes of the masses.
Lion Akanbi also appealed to the landlords/landladies present at the meeting to pay their Tenement Rates (now re-christened Community Rates) promptly. Bungalows are to pay N2,000 while storey buildings are to pay N4,000.
The Local Government Officer at the meeting, Mrs Gbemi Adeyemo encouraged members not to be weary in the work of Community Development as the rewards are inevitable.” No matter how long, the rewards shall surely manifest”, she assured.
The Supo of So-Safe Security Corps for Ado Odo/Ota, Alhaji Dada Wasiu, present at the meeting, appealed to members in the Community to assist in providing space for men of the Corps to enhance their operations, to which Lion Akanbi pledged support.
Supo Dada Wasiu seized the opportunity of the meeting to give an Honorary Award of Grand Commander to the General Secretary of Aseyori ACDC, Elder Kayode Yusuff for his commitment, consistency and dedication to the work of Community Development.
On indiscriminate Waste Disposal in the Community, Lion Akanbi appealed to members to please try and patronize designated Waste Control companies with official rates of N300 per room and N750 per Flat.
According to him, there would soon be sanctions against illegal Waste Disposal offenders as well as those that engage in Bush/Waste burning. The ACDC chairman also warned those who engage in Noise Pollution to desist from the irresponsible act, fingering Churches and Mosques as major culprits.
Lion Akanbi also seized the opportunity to encourage members to go for covid-19 vaccine injections.
The ACDC chairman announced that elections into CDA ExCos will take place in March/April, pointing out that State and Local Governments are the only authorized bodies that can dissolve sitting ExCos rather than the incumbent chairman or any other officer for that matter.
He advised that positions of Chairmen, Secretary, Treasurer and Finance Secretary should be given to those who can read and write so that they can flow with present level of technology in our world of today.
Lion Akanbi also announced that the suspension of Sunshine CDA has been lifted.
